About the Role
The Finance Controller will oversee and manage financial operations across East Africa, providing strategic leadership in financial planning, analysis, reporting, and controls. The role is critical in ensuring financial sustainability, compliance, and alignment with global business strategies while driving operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Leadership and Strategic Planning
• Oversee financial planning and forecasting processes to support strategic goals.
• Provide insights on financial performance to senior leadership, identifying opportunities for growth and efficiency.
• Develop and implement cost optimization strategies to drive profitability.
• Align financial operations with regional and global business strategies.
2. Financial Reporting and Compliance
• Prepare and present accurate, timely financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, regional regulatory frameworks, and company policies.
• Oversee the preparation of statutory reports and facilitate annual audits.
• Implement robust internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
3. Cash Flow and Treasury Management
• Manage cash flow across East Africa operations, ensuring financial stability and liquidity.
• Oversee treasury operations, currency management, and working capital optimization.
• Develop strategies to minimize exchange rate and credit risks.
4. Business Efficiency and Process Improvement
• Identify and implement financial process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Develop tools and dashboards for better financial tracking and analysis.
• Collaborate with operational teams to integrate financial systems and data-driven decision-making.
5. Leadership and Team Management
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team across the East African region.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and excellence.
• Provide capacity building and succession planning for key roles within the finance team.
Qualifications and Experience
• Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
o Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CIMA are mandatory.
• Experience:
o Minimum 8–10 years of experience in senior financial leadership roles.
o Experience within the soft commodities sector or related industries is highly desirable.
o Proven track record of managing financial operations in multinational environments.
Skills and Competencies
• Strong understanding of IFRS and regional compliance requirements.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or other financial software.
• Ability to manage treasury, cash flow, and risk effectively.
• Outstanding leadership and team-building skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
• Results-oriented with a focus on strategic execution and process improvement.
