Job Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Production Officer to manage and optimize the production processes of our dairy products, including yoghurt, cheese, and fresh milk. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of production process, from sourcing high quality ingredients to ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards to production of yoghurt and cheese and maintaining proper hygiene and records, daily production activities, reporting on remaining materials, ensuring product quality, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in both the production area and the outlet.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacturing: Plan and execute daily production schedules to meet demand by following standardized recipes and production guidelines.
- Milk Testing: Run mandatory milk tests both ahead of production and at milk reception, ensuring the milk meets the required quality standards for safety, flavor, and consistency. Document and report test results accurately.
- Quality Control: Ensure products meet quality standards by checking for consistency, flavor, texture, taste and overall product appearance throughout the production process.
- Equipment Operation: Operate production machinery such as cooler, mixers, vats, press, molds, shapers, pasteurizers, and packaging equipment. Ensure machinery is set up and maintained properly.
- Batch Preparation: Manage preparation and measurement of ingredients, including milk, cultures, and additives, ensuring they are mixed in the correct quantities.
- Cleaning & Maintenance: Regularly clean and sanitize production equipment, work areas, store, storage spaces and utensils in compliance with health and safety standards. Perform regular inspections of the outlet area to uphold hygiene standards and control pest. Keep production gears clean and hanged in a proper manner.
- Packaging: Package finished products accurately, ensuring they are properly labeled and stored in the correct conditions. Ensure proper cleaning and storage of packaging according to standards.
- Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory by checking stock levels of raw materials and finished goods, and alerting the supervisor when supplies are low.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including handling of dairy products, proper lifting techniques, and ensuring the cleanliness of the production area. Maintain hygiene standards to meet regulatory requirements.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed production logs, including batches made, ingredients used, outcomes, and any issues or deviations from standard operating procedures. Prepare regular reports to management on production efficiency, challenges, and inventory levels.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to meet daily production targets, align production with sales forecasts and special orders, troubleshoot issues, and maintain a positive, efficient work environment.
- Innovation: Contribute to the development and improvement of production processes, packaging methods, or product formulations by providing feedback, suggesting new ideas, and assisting with pilot runs of new products or processes. Stay up to date with industry trends and technologies to help enhance product quality and production efficiency.
- Outlet Support: Assist in outlet sales and deliveries as needed, ensuring efficient service and customer satisfaction.
- Management of Stores:
Manage the cleanliness and neatness of storage areas, ensuring that all items are organized and easily accessible. Ensure that all products produced are stored under the correct temperature and environmental conditions.
- Storage Practices:
Label and stamp all finished products correctly, maintaining clarity on production dates and batch numbers. Regularly check stored products for compliance with hygiene standards and proper labeling.
- Ad-Hoc Support: Assist with any additional responsibilities as requested by the supervisors
Required Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in food safety, food science, Nutrition or production management are desirable.
- Proven experience in a production role, preferably within the dairy or food industry
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food production.
- Familiarity with HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and other food safety certifications.
- Ability to operate machinery and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines.
- Physical stamina to stand, bend, and lift heavy objects for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and storage requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work in a cold environment as some stages of production may require working in refrigerated areas.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or overtime, depending on production needs.
