Role Overview:
The Plant Operator operates and maintains heavy machinery and equipment used in municipal works, such as road construction, waste management, and other infrastructure projects. This role ensures that equipment is used safely and efficiently to support municipal operations.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Operate heavy machinery such as graders, bulldozers, or waste compactors as required for municipal projects.

  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment to ensure functionality.

  • Ensure safe operation of machinery, adhering to safety regulations and guidelines.

  • Keep records of equipment usage, maintenance, and fuel consumption.

  • Report any mechanical faults or issues to the supervisor for timely repairs.

  • Support municipal works projects, including road grading, waste management, and drainage systems.

  • Assist in training other staff on the safe use of equipment.


Qualifications and Experience:



  • A Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with a pass in English.

  • A valid operator’s license for heavy machinery (e.g., Class G or equivalent).

  • At least 2 years of experience operating heavy machinery in a public or private sector setting.

  • Basic mechanical knowledge for minor repairs and maintenance.

  • Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and follow safety protocols.

  • Teamwork and reliability.
