Procurement and Contracts -Intern

The Contracts and Procurement Engineer Intern will provide support to the Contracts and Procurement department of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project. This role is designed to offer exposure to the procurement and contractual aspects of a major infrastructure project, and to assist in the efficient execution of procurement activities.

Key Responsibilities:


Contract Management:



  • Assist in the review and analysis of contracts, ensuring compliance with project requirements.

  • Support the preparation of contract documents and amendments.

  • Maintain organized records of all contracts and related documents.


Procurement Support:



  • Assist in the procurement process, from identifying potential vendors to issuing requests for proposals (RFPs) and evaluating bids.

  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods and services.


Vendor Relationship Management:



  • Assist in the assessment and evaluation of vendor performance.

  • Support in maintaining positive relationships with suppliers and contractors.

  • Support in negotiations with vendors as directed by senior staff.


Documentation and Reporting:



  • Prepare and maintain detailed records of procurement activities.

  • Assist in the preparation of regular procurement reports for management.

  • Ensure that all procurement documentation is accurate and up-to-date.


Compliance and Risk Management:



  • Contribute to ensuring compliance with procurement policies and regulations.

  • Identify and report potential risks in the procurement process.


Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address contractual issues


Key requirements



  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field, or recent graduate from recognized University

  • Must provide Introduction letter from university and copy of student I.D.

  • Must provide a partial transcript / testimonial showing current academic scores with a minimum of an
    upper-second degree.

  • Must be available full-time for the duration of the internship period.

  • Must write and submit an internship application letter.

Context and environment



  • The C&P Intern will be based in the EACOP Office.

  • The C&P Intern will report to the Contracts and Procurement Engineer of EACOP.

  • He/she will interact with Project teams and Construction Contractor teams on a continuous basis with the guidance of the C&P Engineer.

  • He/She is responsible for ensuring and maintaining good relationships between the EACOP and all its stakeholders and the local community.
