Role Overview:
The Mining Engineer oversees the engineering aspects of mining operations, including planning, design, and safety compliance. This role ensures that mining activities are conducted efficiently, safely, and in alignment with UNMC’s operational goals.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop mine plans, schedules, and designs to optimize mineral extraction.

  • Supervise mining operations to ensure adherence to engineering standards and timelines.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry regulations during mining activities.

  • Train and mentor junior engineers and technical staff.

  • Provide technical support for the planning, exploration, and extraction of minerals.

  • Monitor project schedules, quality, and costs to ensure operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with geologists and other professionals to assess mine feasibility and productivity.


Qualifications and Experience:



  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering from a recognized institution.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine operations or a related field.

  • Registration with the Engineers Registration Board is an added advantage.

  • Proficiency in mining software such as Surpac or MineSched.


Competencies and Skills:



  • Strong technical and analytical skills.

  • Leadership and project management.

  • Excellent design capability and problem-solving.

  • Knowledge of safety and environmental standards in mining.
